Problems with Legacy collection AU in Mac

Post by MS-20 »

Hi, this is my first time on a forum.
Not too sure how to go about this.

I recently bought and downloaded the korg legacy collection.
I run Snow leopard 10.6.8.
Each of the soft synths open and run fine as standalone, but I can not seem to use them as AU or any other form of plugin.

I look forward to your replies and assistance.
Cheers.

I use the Analog Legacy Collection in Logic Pro 9.1.6, OSX 10.6.8 with no problems.

Are you sure the AU plugins are in the correct folder (HD/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components or User/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components).

Also (if you're a Logic user - which DAW do you use?) check the Audio Units Manager (go to Logic's Preferences) and try rescanning your AUs after opening Logic in 32-bit mode. Your Legacy Collection plugins should have a tick in the left hand box in the Audio Units Manager.

If you use another DAW, I'm sorry I don't have any other suggestions.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
I am also using Logic 9.1.6 and OSX 10.6.8.
On top of that I also use multiple other DAW's including protools and Ableton.

The AU's can not be found by these programs but they come up in the scan in Logic.
I checked the location where the AU's and other plugins are stored but it did not contain the Legacy collection's AU's or any other form of plugin.

When I downloaded the collection I checked the AU folder and it was empty.
Like I said, the package can be opened stand alone, but, there is no sign of any AU.

Do you know of any way the I can download just the AU's?
Cheers.

I bought my Legacy Collection before Korg started selling each synth separately, but I would assume that you would get both the standalones and the plugins.

Did you install them using the Korg installer? If so, they should be installed in their proper locations.

Although you did say that they do appear in Logic, so they must be in your Components folder (there is no "AU folder". Pro Tools uses different plugin formats and Ableton Live can use both AUs and VSTs.

I don't use either of those, but Like Logic, you may have to rescan for them to 'see' the plugins (although I would assume that they, like Logic, would do an automatic rescan when you open the applications).

The other thing that's worth trying is to repair your Permissions (using Disk Ultility in your Ultilities folder). Sometimes faulty Permissions files causes problems like this.

I installed using the Korg installer and they do appear in Logic, but only in the scan. I have checked for them in the components folder and every other folder and am very familiar with plugins of every description.
The problem seems to be that I just don't have the components. If it would be possible if you could email me just the component files I would be very happy.
I am sure that is the cause of my problem.
My email address is 'ryanrichy@hotmail.com'.
I would really appreciate that help.
Cheers.

Are you sure they're not in your Components folder? If they appear in Logic's Audio Units Manager then they must be in your Components Folder otherwise Logic would not be able to scan for them.

I'm not too sure about emailing the components to you as this is likely to go against the license agreement for their use, but I would very surprised if they are not in the software installer which you purchased from Korg.

There is some software called Pacifist (http://www.charlessoft.com/) which allows you to open installer packages and to copy individual items contained in the package to your hard disk, as well as allowing you to examine the full contents of the package.

I'd try this. If the components are not included in the installer package I'd contact Korg and take it up with them. But as I said, I'd be very surprised if they weren't.

Thanks for the help.
I've reinstalled it for the 5th time and I think I can get it working but it still isn't in the components folder.
It'll remain a mystery to me.
Cheers again.

I would suggest contacting Korg Product Support. See my signature.
** KORG Product Support Contacts **
(they support BOTH hardware and software)

Korg USA Product support -- https://www.korgusa.com/contactus (For fastest service I would suggest calling them on the phone)

Outside the U.S. contact your Korg Country Distributor -- https://www.korg.com/us/corporate/distributors/
