is it possible to use the Smooth Sound Transition from one Combi to another.
if it is so how did kronos handle this?
when it is possible i ask myself why could we not use 32 midi track´s and double effects.
i ask this because i have also a Fantom G and the work so
16 Midi Instruments 16+2+2 Effects in studio mode
8 Instruments 8+2+2 Effects in Mulilayer mode ( have also Smooth Sound Transition like Kronos)
Smooth Sound Transition: combi to combi ???

Re: Smooth Sound Transition: combi to combi ???
Both Combis and Programs can use the same amount of effects processing power. So, there's no difference between the two for this question.steinkaf wrote:is it possible to use the Smooth Sound Transition from one Combi to another.

Traditional workstations, such as the Fantom and M3, divide their DSP processing power into predetermined subdivisions (for instance, 16 + 2 + 2), each of which can run a single effect. The KRONOS doesn't do this; instead, it dynamically allocates processing power for the effects. There's still a max limit on the number of effects, but that comes from the routing structure instead of the processing power.
The KRONOS can run a maximum of 34 effects simultaneously: two sets each of 12 IFX, 2 MFX, 2 TFX, and a Set List graphic EQ. Unless you have a lot of O-Verbs running at once, all 34 effects can easily coexist. These two sets are used for Smooth Sound Transitions, as described in this part of the Operation Guide:
* * *
Effects
Internally, the KRONOS has two separate sets of effects, like two racks of effects. One of these racks is used by the current sound; the other is used by the previous sound. This allows the two sets of effects to work simultaneously; for instance, the previous sound’s delays can continue to ring out while you’re playing the new sound.
There are only two of these effects racks, however. Every time that you select a new sound, the older of the two effects racks is silenced and re‐configured for the new sound.
Also, it’s possible for the combined requirements of the two effects racks to exceed the available processing power. If this happens, the old effects rack is silenced immediately.
* * *
In re your question about using all of these effects at once for a single multitimbral setup: I guess that would be possible if we made the internal routing structure more complex, presumably at the cost of some processing power, but this would also mean that Smooth Sound Transitions would be less likely to work between any two sounds. I can understand the desire for this ability, however.

thank´s for the detailed answer Dan!
But i Think it would make sin, not in Program or Combi-mode but in Sequencer you could use more effects.
Some of the programs uses 3-4 effects for it´s own and if you would all 16 instruments sound like as it sound in Program-mode you cold not have enough effect slots.

However if you used all the effects from each program in Combi or Sequence mode, your mix would likely sound a mess.steinkaf wrote:Some of the programs uses 3-4 effects for it´s own and if you would all 16 instruments sound like as it sound in Program-mode you cold not have enough effect slots.
I'm not against increased processing power but I actually find limitations like these good in making clearer mixes.
This is why the 2 MFX are good - you can use the same reverb or delay for multiple instruments, making them sound like they belong in the same space, for example.

Especially check for multiple (different) delays, echoes etc.steinkaf wrote:X-Trade wrote:However if you used all the effects from each program in Combi or Sequence mode, your mix would likely sound a mess.steinkaf wrote:Some of the programs uses 3-4 effects for it´s own and if you would all 16 instruments sound like as it sound in Program-mode you cold not have enough effect slots.

Change them into one (or one of each) at max.
