the windows midi sounds library on the kronos may be crappy, but its is REALLY REALLY KICK-*** to use for some purposes. especially when you are trying to play seinfeld theme or make korg m1 sounds.
Version 1.5 has been changed so that the GM variation banks do not appear in Program Category lists.

I'm quite happy with the GM sounds. I have a lot of orchestral sequences based on GM and it's very easy to load them in to the sequencer and switch on GM initialisation. Saves a lot of trouble. I can balance the sounds nicely with the sliders and then play around switching the sounds to the regular banks though it's turned out to be hard work getting them right. Keps me busy though.

Great news. I still don't understand why this is not implemented from the start since GM sounds can scare away customers in the musicstore if they don't have knowledge of what bank-G is in the kronos. I remember this problem on the M3 as well and it took some time untill Korg fixed it .
I remember this problem in the kronos when I was demoing it few months ago... I was so used on my M3 having all the GM sounds at the back but I forgot in the kronos they were in the middle, so I missed half of the sounds(!) that were behind the GM banks... I was wondering where all of the insane amount of presets were hiding untill i discovered this halfway in into my demo sessions
Hiding them completely makes the most sense so thank you, If you need the GM sounds you just need to go there manually!
