I never quite fully understood why people, who paid $$$$$ for their Oasyses, didn't bother with paying an additional relatively small sum of money to get additional NEW SYNTHS? :?:

Ciao Paul,
I agree with what you say. In fact I'm not complaining of course
have paid the expansions of OASYS.
But I think that this trade policy is very wrong.
Apple also discontinued its products but certainly do not find them for free above the AppleStore.

Ciao ,Giuseppe

In my case I had little call to use them and certainly no need whatsoever for the brass irrespective of outlaying thousands to buy the machine
I agree with what you say.
I found it truly amazing to read that many have not
bought the expansions of OASYS.
It's not a question of money.
What is a free expansion OASYS?
For me this is really amazing, or maybe I'm very stupid
.

Maybe you misunderstood my explanation.....

I used money (which I could have used to pay for MOD-7 EXi) to buy Yamaha SY synths which have enormous FM sound libraries with stunning third party / user developed sounds and are therefore ultimately of greater value to me.

This is aside from the fact that Korg stopped support for a very expensive Workstation that was nearly twice as expensive as it's nearest rivals at Yamaha / Roland. That huge price being justified by future-proof Open Architecture (now known to be meaningless word play).

The idea that Korg should stop support completely and then try and charge money for software which has already been developed and paid for (at least in part) by Oasys customers is absurd in my opinion.

Offering the expansions free of charge is the very least they could do. I respect Korg for their offer. Some here would argue they should have doen a lot more and I respect those opinions too.

BTW you won't find me "not liking" any forum members on here just because they hold a different view to me (as some on here have recently written).

Thank you for your answer and your full explanation about the
choosing not to buy MOD-7.
I, however, I can not, yet, to imagine my OASYS
LAC-1-free, for example, that despite having Andromeda A6
certainly much more powerful expansion LAC-1.
I repeat that I am very disappointed in the trade policy of Korg .
But I thank the tread because it made me discover things about
OASYS owners that I would never have imagined.
I apologize to you all, finally, for my bad English.
Good Music to You All.

Agree about LAC-1. I had an original MS20 so can testify that the LAC-1 virtual MS20 is a great emulation.

But that's subtractive Synthesis and is fairly easy to make great sounding analog programmes. Difference then is a person's preference for the quality of the Oscillators and Filters e.g. SCI vs Oberheim vs Korg vs whoever.....

FM is additive (pure sine waves) and much harder to achieve anything worth listening to.
