EC5

Post by Ivan »

Hey guys,

How would I get this footswitch working with the m50? The assignable/pedal jacks won't fit it's cable, and since I'm a total noob at cables I'm wondering is there some sort of an adapter that could work?

Thanks

Hi Ivan,
there isn't going to be a pre-made adapter that will work.
Best thing to do is find an electronics parts/ repair shop close by to make a breakout cable for you.
It should cost around $50 to $75

Hm, yeah.. not a cheap option.. I do know someone I'll try to get in contact with who might be able to help though. I'm just wondering, since its 6 pins, I'm guessing 5 are for the five pedals and one for earthing? Since it's only 5 on/off footswitches does it matter if they all get wired to one standard jack that goes in the m50 footswitch socket? I figure you couldn't do this if dedicated controls were being sent (e.g. sustain pedal) but on/off footswitches.. yay?

Hi Ivan,
I believe that you are correct about all five switches sharing a common.
I guess what I didn't get was how you intended to use it with your M50.

How many different controls "footswitch inputs" are you going to plug it into?
If it will be just one, why connect all five switches?

Cheers, Hanon

Weeeell.. there is only one footswitch jack on the back of the keyboard.. the EC5, on the other hand, has 5 footswitches.. I suppose I could live without one or two but it does kinda beat the point of having a multi-switch if you're not going to use more than 1 or 2 :)
