Well.. back in *my* day :) - I had a MS10. This was a bazzillion years ago. I used it for lead in a couple of songs (i was playing in a cover band at the time). It wasn't too difficult to learn/use - but I certainly would never had tried to create a full song with it. The iMS-20 is similar, in that I wouldn't try to create a complete song with it. It just isn't the right tool for the job.

What I like about GarageBand, is that I can quite easily pull together a full tune. The sounds are limited, and canned. The editing capabilities are crippled. Apple seems to be protecting their Mac market, and fuller featured editing software titles. They have given GarageBand enough capability to save off pretty good tunes though.

I sketch ideas with GarageBand using the iPad, the camera kit and an Akai 2- octave controller. I get a rough arrangement with drums and instruments. I export this to an audio file and listen. I then go to my regular sequencer and do a full arrangement.

My kids love the easy drums, guitar and keyboard parts. That's what GB is marketed to.

GB iPad has no edit or midi export. You can undo, but it is easier to re-record a missed part.

You can export Garageband files to Logic or GarageBand on the Mac.

Use it for what it is, have fun, make music, make a statement.

I brought my iPad2 3 days ago and instantly downloaded Both korg apps and GarageBand.
Using the iPads audio copy feature makes it easy to export loops that you've created from the korg apps and create complex arrangements in The garageBand app.

Midi note editor would be a nice addition to GarageBand but other than that using these apps together is a really cool and powerful way of making music on the go.
