Korg PS60 sounds

Discussion relating to all other KORG synth related products that don’t have a dedicated section. For example, OASYS PCI, M1, N Series, 01W series, T series, and more…

Korg PS60 sounds

Post by derrickcheang »

Hi,
Anyone can have explored into getting new sounds in this keyboard other then what is default. ?

I think that this keyboard is really really impressive,
I've followed Korg keyboards for since the X series,
And I must say, for the size, weight.
The feel, sounds and the piano sound is just amazing.

But I dont like the sound of the pads and strings.
I read that since its having the same engine as the M series,
Wondering if its possible to import the sounds from M50 or M3 into this keyboard,
If that is possible will be just GREAT

I agree...I just recently bought the PS60 and absolutely love it.
There are quite a few sounds that I would like to replace that
are IMO junk sounds don't know why they even put them
in there...

Still hoping for a PS60 sub forum

No, you can't import the "sounds" of the M50 or M3. The "sounds" you hear consist of programs. Programs can be changed. Programs use samples and multisamples, which can't be changed. You need to learn how to program your synth to know what that means. You are not stuck with the preset sounds that it has, even though you have to use the samples it has.

A more useful approach would be to declare, in as much detail as you can, what your complaints about a given sound are. Strings "too washy" or organ "not dangerous enough" aren't gonna pull much help. Examples of sounds you'd like to GET are more helpful -- but realize you're constricted by the synth you chose. You're never gonna get the Oasys string section.

I mostly help on gear that I've got, or have owned. I can certainly give tips about live use, programming in general, and organization.

And, tho' I don't own your synth, I might just be able to give you some general tips on tailoring sounds; I've downloaded PDF manuals on more than one occasion to do just that.

Until a subject group pops up here this is the right place to post, and the one that will get the best results.

Keep plugging,

Yep, agree a seperate PS60 forum could be fun.

Bill, you'd suggested suggesting certain sounds or ways to tweat it. I was looking for more synthy type sounds as the covers band I play in covers Lady Gaga amongst others (blush)(but I get paid pretty good for it  )

Think the beginning of Bad Romance? I was using my Triton for it before

User programs

Post by GeePee »

You can tweak any of the 440 programs, change them completely, add other effects, EQ, ADSR curves etc. With the editor you´ve gotta save your new program in bank D, above preset 56. Here you can choose between cathegories too, e. g. you can save a piano into brass cathegory, for example. I made a few own presets already, what someone mentioned about the organ "not being dangerous enough" was corrected.

Yeah, turns out the editor is pretty darn good after a quick play last night & it makes things a tonne easier to edit.
I was meaning the synth intro to Just Dance btw; managed to get something acceptable for the other one.
If I start asking for Justin Bieber sounds, feel free to hunt me down for a kicking lol

I take it you can share the *.ps6apr files?

Purely for the banter and to check that I can do this - is anyone up for being a guniea pig to see if I can transfer a program?

Program exchange

Post by GeePee »

Hi, instead of "save as... All programs" as typ .PS6apr, you should do following: "save as..." now change the typ: Program (*.PS6pr) so you have a single program now, not all of them in one file. This works.

Caution!

Post by GeePee »

If you download the file from the link above, you will be probably overwriting ALL your programs in the PS60, so be careful!!!!!

*.PS6apr = all programs, a file with some 750 kB
*.PS6pr = one single program, only some 5-6 kB

Be sure to backup all your performances and programs, before you do anything!

Ahhhhhhh, I see; apr = "all programs" and "pr" is program. Makes sense now!!!

Hope no one has ended up with all my sounds!! I'll delete the page now and apologies if any one's had any disasters on my part

Drewmcc - were you able to find the sound for GAGA Just Dance? I would be interested in the file if you have.
