Too late to get an M3???
Is it too late to get an M3 now??I was planning to buy one when a movie post-production worker in my neighborhood told me that the M3 might be discontinued very soon and replaced with a better model as it did not do as good as the TRITON..also some people say that the MOTIF has become a better keyboard in many ways after the launch of the XF..Can i rely on this and wait for Korg to launch a new product??
Prashanth.
You only have to wait 2 days then you can decide!
Not long - and by the way, no-one knows what Kronos might be and what we DO know is that the M3 is no longer supported, but the M3 Expanded is still considered a current product.

even if Korg does come out with a new product (Kronos, which could be a musical toaster oven for all we know) to replace the M3, it will be probably be months until the new product is available to buy. and the M3 is still in stock from a lot of vendors. you got time. You might even end up with a great promotion from Korg if you wait until after NAMM starts. who knows
Those who say the Motif XF is better in many respects are right... but the M3 still has some killer advantages over the XF... like KARMA, controllers, cost, velocity pads, touch screen, etc. That's a topic that is pretty subjective. I'd suggest you look over the specs and TRY ONE OUT IN PERSON before you make a decision. I think they're a pretty close match, really...but i personally would never trade my M3 for an Motif XF.
M3 and M3 Expanded are pretty much one and the same. So when you hear about "the M3's been discontinued" it's really just a formality... they're literally the same piece of hardware. M3 is still in production!

when you see your ' neighborhood worker ' is wrong, will you smack him on the head for us ?prashanth_estra wrote:Is it too late to get an M3 now??I was planning to buy one when a movie post-production worker in my neighborhood told me that the M3 might be discontinued very soon and replaced with a better model as it did not do as good as the TRITON..also some people say that the MOTIF has become a better keyboard in many ways after the launch of the XF..Can i rely on this and wait for Korg to launch a new product??

I agree with all that's said. You ALWAYS want to keep your eye on the blow-out pricing right before the new unit hits the stores. I would contact a clerk at a store where they have a few M3s and make sure he hits you when they go deep-discount.
The Alesis Fusion was a dog at $2,000 USD, but when they blew them out for $400...

Trying out an expensive workstation in India is almost impossible unless you have a friend or someone who already has one...so i have to depend only on user reviews, videos, etc...no store here will be able to show you the product before you order one!!Gargamel314 wrote: I'd suggest you look over the specs and TRY ONE OUT IN PERSON before you make a decision. anyway...I've decided to wait and see whats gonna happen at NAMM...
and...just wanted to know..are all the M3s that are being sold currently, Xpanded ones??

That sounds like a good business opportunity...to be the only retailer with higher end music gear in your area.prashanth_estra wrote: Trying out an expensive workstation in India is almost impossible unless you have a friend or someone who already has one...so i have to depend only on user reviews, videos, etc...no store here will be able to show you the product before you order one!!

Yeah i would be happy if someone like that comes here...yamaha recently came up with a store which had all the products available for trying called "yamaha music square"...but even there it takes time for new products to arrive...no place here to try high end Korgs and Rolandsxmlguy wrote: That sounds like a good business opportunity...to be the only retailer with higher end music gear in your area.

It depends on what kind of music you make.prashanth_estra wrote:Trying out an expensive workstation in India is almost impossible unless you have a friend or someone who already has one...so i have to depend only on user reviews, videos, etc...no store here will be able to show you the product before you order one!!Gargamel314 wrote: I'd suggest you look over the specs and TRY ONE OUT IN PERSON before you make a decision. I LOVE my M3m. I recommend you buy one - especially if the prices drop.
MOTIF may have Karma soon. If Korg replaces the M3, the prices will fall & they will be bargains.
Korg has just announced what Kronos is: a Workstation!

No price tag yet, but it seems more like an Oasys sucessor than a M3 one to me. So it is still safe to buy a M3..
