questions about sound switching with m3

Post by CommonGuy »

I'm bit of a noob here...

so If all I want is a set of programs together throughout the songs, for a particular song ( e.g song A, program 4, 5, and 6 ). How do I make it easy for me? I want the foot pedal switch to move between programs.

Do I copy out the program to a different slot, and create new sub category called song A? or create a combi called song A ? or maybe some other methods that I missed?

ok, so after some search on the net, the closest that I can find is from
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKbLb_eX48Y

but this is still bit too loose to what I want...

the steps were basically...

1. create combis set with 1 program sound or more that I want (if layered)
2. use sequence to save that 1 combi, and name it song A part 1, save it in e.g 001
3. then save the 2nd combi, and name it song A part 2, save it in e.g 002
4. use pedal switch to cycle through songs...

but this is still creates problem...
1. unorganized number of (song A part #) in the sequence mode...
2. possibility that the next combi / program patch is not in the next cycle number...

I really need help with this... how do you guys organize your songs / program / combi patches?

time is running out...

use the touchscreen.... i put all the sounds i use for the gig in the categoty "user", then i leave the touchscreen always in the panel where you see al the patches of the category (to play a patch it if enough to select without pressing ok), and with one finger i simply pass from one patch to the other i need.

hey thanks for the tips. I've tried it, I think It will work for some common sound.

I might use the m3 editor to program the banks as well.

I think the footswitch can be configured to change to the next program. So you should be able to just save all the programs you need in the order you need them, and then hit the footswitch to change the sound when you need to.

For example, you might have this kind of arrangement if you have several different sounds in the song song:
A001: Song 1 verse
A002: Song 1 chorus
A003: Song 1 verse
A004: Song 1 chorus
A005: Song 1 bridge
A006: Song 1 chorus

yea, my strategy is that basically, for a more complex songs, I have something like that, where the foot switch is used for control.

though, for a lesser complex songs, (something that only use 1 - 2 sounds) I just use the touch screen to select the program / combis.
