Samples play faster as I go up the keys???
When I load a wav sample into my triton studio, as I play up the keys I can hear the sample but the sample itself gets faster and faster. I move up and or down(slower). This makes sampling pointless to me. Is there a way to make the sample play the same speed on all keys?
Cubase 5
Yamaha 01x
Korg TRITON Extreme
Korg PadKontrol
Mackie HR824
Have owned Triton le, TR, Triton Studio, M3

This is the way over 90% of sampling systems work. The speed of the sample playback is changed, causing the speed of the waveform to change. wave goes up and down slower = lower frequency. wave goes up and down faster = higher frequency.
There are some systems that transpose pitch of a sample without changing its time character, but these are very processing-intensive and i Korg had implemented this in the triton, I imagine it would have had a four note or less polyphony.
Anyway, the way around this is that usually when sampling an instrument you will make more than one sample - you could sample every other, every third, every fifth, or every octave. What works really depends on the kind of sound. Sampling every octave is quite wide and will still have noticeable speed changes for anything but a simple waveform.
