Should I upgrade?

Post by Korgalicious »

Hi all,

I am new to this forum; but I wish I found about this one much much earlier!

Status: Korg Trition ProX, max. sample ram, SCSI board installed (external CD-writer), software version 2.0.3 - and just found out that I am still using an older OS version.

Question 1: what are the main differences with the latest version (is that 2.5.3)?

Question 2 (more importantly): I read a lot of problems regarding system upgrades etc. etc. on this forum (might be an impression). :? Do you think it is advisable to do the upgrade?

Thank you so much in advance!

Regards.

Hi

It's always advisable to do upgrades. They are more often than not enhancements to previous problem versions.

http://www.korguksupport.co.uk/page.cfm?pageid=351

This is the link where you can get the last version. Also on the page is a guide to upgrading which lists the changes made in the version.

As long as you follow the instructions correctly there will be no problems.

The outcome

Post by Korgalicious »

Hi y'all!

First of all: I succeeded in performing the upgrade to 2.5.3. :o Although I have not tested all functions of the workstation (yet), I think I won't have any further problems.

I say 'further problems' because.... well.... there were some minor glitches in the process. Disk #1 (of 3) worked just fine; just as the instructions mentioned all the necessary messages came on the screen. Then Disk #2. Read error. Again. Read error. New disk. Copying files to the new disk. Read error. Retrieving the Windows version of the O/S files from the UK site (the previous were done on a Mac), expanding the docs, new disk, copying files to the disk, holding the breath..... and then it worked! Disk #3. I already did copy the 'Windows version' of disk #3; read error. New disk. Copying files. Read error. New disk. Copying files. Media error. New disk (again). Copying files..... success!!! (phew)

I have to say... that wasn't too good for my nerves!!!
