OK ..i give up ..and asking for help...i've been looking through the X50 manual to try to understand how to set up X50 as Midi Controller..specifically for My cakewalk home studio 7XL..but no luck..I see the midi in midi out option...but i have to connect to my computer with a USB...which i already have...I use the X50 Editor all the time...with the USB from Keyboard to computer. I would think i could use this as a connection to make my X50 a midi controller..i've tried working with MIDI in the past...but i get bogged down trying to understand everything and give ..and go back to audio inputs with LINE 6 as Midi interface..and i want to try again because i would like to see how good the Session drummer is...please help...
1. do i have to download another driver to make X50 a midi controller?
2. can i set it up through X50 editor?
3.any site i can go to ..to learn how to do this?
any input would be appreciated to get me started...thanks..RW

If you have the USB connected and the USB-MIDI Driver installed (needed to get the editor working typically), then you're set to go.
Just go into your DAW and set up an instrument or MIDI track with a plugin instrument, and set the M50's virtual MIDI port as the input for that track. That's the same software input you use in the editor to recieve from the keyboard too.
It helps to go to a program with no arp or anything fancy set up or at least turned on, and you can just play. The X50 will always transmit MIDI.

X Trade ...thanks for the reply...what you told me makes sense...with cakewalk there is an options drop box ...to select midi controller...but neither X50 nor X50 editor is in there...and it does not give me an option to browswe or import either one...
what is an option is my line 6 UX2 ..but that is an audio interface ..i connect my X50 to it with a 1/4" jack..
maybe i'll check with the cakewalk forum and ask them why i don't see X50 or X50 editor as an option for midi controller...thanks again...I guess i'm just a dinosaur when it comes to this stuff..ha....RW
