Converting my Smartmedia to the SD??

Post by acidblue0 »

Can it be done? 128mb on a smartmedia is just not enough space.

I'm going to bet no. You can physically map out the wiring and wire up the drive, but the OS would probably need code to access the additional memory.

Just my hunch though. I'll know more soon as I'm waiting for the SD version to be released so I can cross reference everything.
Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), SQ-64, DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, 3x nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha).

it seems I accidentally bought the smart media version too. I'm pretty sure that recognizing the larger memory wouldn't be a problem per se. but getting the firmware to recognise the new hardware of an SD card reader might be.

this is a wild guess. anyone confirm it?

if we're converting anyway couldt we just put in a USB drive and Hereford hook it up toa computer USB stick or external hard drive?

would REALLY like advice on what to do. pretty miffed someone is e en selling an out of date model. :(
