As the Mastercard commercial would put it:

Korg M50: $1000
Reason 4: $300
Discovering that Reason doesn't record audio: priceless.

You want a sequencer to record the audio coming from the M50 (preferrably something MIDI-capable). Reason is a softsynth, and doesn't handle any audio recording.

Propellerheads do now have a great package called Record out, and if you have both installed you can use the Reason softsynths in Record. Record allows you to, well, record audio tracks like most DAWs such as Cubase, Logic, etc...

Particularly good if you really like the simplicity (or complexity) of Reason's hardware-orientated workflow.

Reason is really a glorified softsynth though. It can sequence MIDI, meaning that it can control what the M50 plays, or you can use the M50 as a keyboard to input notes to record or control the synths in Reason... but MIDI is merely a set of messages saying 'note on, note off, controller change', it doesn't actually carry the M50's sounds.

If you are happy with the way reason works, then Record looks really good too.

I personally use cubase, but Logic is also good (but only available on the mac). Their newer versions are very similar to eachother now.

There are also free and cheap DAWs you can get online, like energyXT, Kristal, Reaper...

Which version of Cubase? What part can't you figure out? What have you tried so far?

I understand that you're having difficulty, and that's certainly frustrating, but you're not really providing any information as to what the problem actually is. Are you trying to get audio out of a MIDI interface?

Hopefully you realize that MIDI isn't audio. So, while it's great that you have a MIDI interface, it's never going to bring audio from your keyboard to your DAW, only MIDI data. (FYI: USB/MIDI is faster in communicating MIDI data than a midi cable, and all you need is the Korg USB/MIDI driver)

Now, what you need to bring audio into your computer is an audio interface. These devices come in all shapes and sizes and in all price ranges. Your computer might have an audio input, which you can use, but you may experience latency. While latency won't be completely avoided by using an external audio interface, it will certainly be diminished.

When you try to select your audio input device in Cubase, going to preferences, or the device manager isn't going to help. You're going to have to use the menus in Cubase in order to choose what you're looking for.

From there it's a matter of knowing how to use cubase, and knowing what it is that you're trying to do. This can certainly be frustrating also, but they have a very helpful forum as well, and I'm sure that the folks over there could help guide you in the right direction with regard to Cubase related tech questions.
