HELP ! My new PA500 touch screen went blank !

Post by shfas »

Fellow KORG Users
I bought a brand new PA 500 less than a month ago and last week while playing I heard a 'strange' noise coming out of the speakers despite putting the volume to zero. The strange noise is like someone searching for radio stations. I shut off the machine and attend to it later, where I found that the touch screen went blank ! But the strange noise is no more there. I still can play and all sounds are as per normal except that the screen is blank (not entire blank) but a very light shade of grey and can hardly be seen.
Anyone out there can assist before I bring it to the store which is quite a distant away.
Thank you for sharing

You may wish to perform a full factory reset on it but if the screen has truly broken you will have problems following the reset procedures.

As it is new and appears to have happened for no reason, I would be contacting the service center or retailer immediately.

Good luck

Hi Pete, Thanks for the reply. I'll try a factory reset. Not sure how, but I'll find out and share the outcome.
Once again thanks

Hi Ben
when you try to make a reset, then switch off all lights in the room. (only a little candle may burn)
I think that the backlight of your key is off and that the display is ok.
When the room is dark, you will see something on the display.

Hi Lim,
I take it that you meant the LCD contrast setting. That is quite obvious.
The contrast setting has to be set at 60% only, anything less or more will darken the screen. I am not too sure that the PA500 monochrome LCD screen has a backlight setting, or at least not that I am aware off. Anyway many thanks for your comments.

Hi Ben
there are only contrast-settings , but nothing for the backlight.
Its on ore off. When "off" than its a mistake.
Best regards from germany

To complete the story. I brought the keyboard to the store and it was discovered that the voltage regulator for the LCD screen were spoilt. It was replaced and the screen works.
Thanks for all the feedback and may the force be with you !
