"rehearsal" feature?

Post by MarcOne »

This seems like it should be obvious to me...maybe not. I would like to use my M3 73 to rehearse keyboard parts for a live band. I can easily convert wave or aiff files of the songs, and put them on a usb drive, plug it into the M3, and I can get the audio files to play from the usb drive, using the SAMPLING/ start/stop button. Whenever I play the file, though, audio from the M3 kryboard gets cut off, so rehearsal is not possible. Is this the way it simply is, or is there a workaround? Thanks so much, as always, for any help with this.

I take the easy option and connect an iPod to the Audio Inputs, then play along to that :). If I'm in my studio though, I just play an mp3 or wav file on my PC. Why make things complicated?

Man, I remember the old days of learning a song off of an album and having to guestimate where to put the needle and skip it back over and over. Yea, today - I just use my computer and play along with it.

Yes. better you use portable mp3 player such as iPod. But one thing you must pay attention, you must re-check the Master FX at the program/combi you have choosen. That Master FX will affect the Input Line (from iPod or others) directly...

Thanks for all your responses. I am really surprised that the M3 won't play a simple mp3 from a usb drive. It seems to do everything else. Well, I'll have to use the iPod idea, I think. Thanks asgain, and happy new year.

Hmm... none of the other main workstations play mp3 files... so it isn't surprising at all.

Well I have not done this before cause I never needed but, just thinking about it. Load the song. have the song on one key. convert to program. open a empty a combi. play you sounds from channel one and have the song-program on channel 2. have one of the pad to trigger channel 2. I believe that will work. Now if you have to have multiple songs then that may no work because of not having enough ram to host a lot songs. Like I said I am not sure if this is going to work well for you but, either way let me know,. :)

The only issue with that is if you run out of polyphony, the sample can get cut off mid way through the song.
