Floyd: Pulse DVD 5.1

Post by laughing_bear »

Mix: James Guthrie & David Gilmore

Verdict: 10 out of 10

Flippin beautiful remix of the 1994 earlscourt concert, a true Masterpiece!

Be aware, of your DVD player is somewhat older, you might not be able to get the enhanced version to play. Newer DVD Players should not have any problems.

One of the absolutely best sonic dvd's I know of, an alltime favourite!
This one is in my top 3 when it comes to sound-quality, and probably the best when it comes to emotion, probably because I saw them on that tour in my own country.
Another great sounding dvd is: Jean Michel Jarre - Jarre in China, supposed to be the first one RECORDED live in 5.1 surround and HD.

:3dthumbs:
Poly Evolver keyboard, KORG Radias. KURZWEIL K2600S, NORD-MODULAR, KORG D3200, DOEPFER MAQ 16/3 and a bunch of pedals...It's all gone, so now I'm starting over, but with virtual synths.

Soundconstruction going on...

I tried Metallica's Cunning Stunts in 5.1 and I wasn't all that impressed. I love the band, don't get me wrong but it sounds really muddy. I have a Sony Bravia home theatre system.

Anyone else got this DVD?

Hi Mike,

while I do not have the DVD, I know a few Sony homecinemas from friends, and I am afraid it is more than likely that this is the real cause of the muddy experience.

If you have a chance, take that DVD to a friend with a half way decent surround sound setup and listen again, you might be astonished!

Hi Laughing Bear

I'll try that but it is a brand new system I have so i'm surprised it's that.... Had Sony in the past and have PS3 etc... I'll try it and post the comparison.

If you're after a blast in 5.1 I can't recommend Porcupine Tree's In absentia, DeadWing and especially Fear of a Blank Planet highly enough... there are moments on each when you just sit back and grin!

HI to all... Fingers

For anyone interested,- next year it's time for a dvd-release that probably will be a favourite among sound-maniacs: Dire Straits - Alchemy.

Can't wait for that one to come around... :D
