This fabulous piece is available now ... just got mine this week courtesy of the g/f via Sweetwater. It's like the microQ, but fun to use :-)

WOW! The era of the candy-box synth is upon us. But this thing sounds SOOOO much better than the Snow. And about half the price I figure. Sweet.

I own an Ensoniq Fizmo which is a wavetable synth which borrows heavily from the Waldorf PPG line - wavetables and all. ;) In any case, wavetable synthesis is something very cool to play with, as the tables have much more harmonic action than you can get from the usual synth, like pulse width modulation with insane processing going on. But the cool thing about the new Waldorfs like the Blofeld is they don't leave you hanging in the old school sounds like PWM and oscillator sync.

I want one very badly - you should too - but I'm suffering from the Oasys bug, and I'm having another argument with myself on whether or not to get one. So Blofeld is going to have to wait in his island stronghold just a bit longer. :P

Except that the Blofeld doesn't apparently have a software editor or VST.

No way I'm buying any synth without these features anymore. These are the most useful features of the R3 and X50 for me and let me get much more out of them.

Having no Audio IN also limits its use with other gear.

The Virus TI Snow looks a lot more promising to me than the Blofeld, even if it costs more. Looks like Blofeld may be more like #2 than Dr. Evil, while the Snow is Bonds/Powers who gets the girl in the end.

Waldorf is doing a great job hiding the Blofeld editor and VST. Give me a link, if you don't mind, since I can't find any mention of the software or downloads of it or anyone saying anything about it. No mention of it anywhere on the Blofeld web pages so far as I can see, including the Specs page. It mentions a midi driver, but that's not what I'm talking about.

There is no editor yet ... nothing on their site and nothing when I checked the CD that came with the Blofeld.

$699 US. Stock hasn't caught up with demand yet.

Looks interesting...

Waldorf Blofeld Editor:

Fader for OSC volume doesn't work yet. It's a problem of Waldorf, not the script of this editor. Should be fixed later.
After edit, new name of patches you have to save in the Blofeld, not by the editor.

Author: Wojciech Chabinka.
