Thanks for that. It was in a corner of a studio control room for nigh on a year. It's always felt stuffy when I've gone in there, but not what I'd call humid. However, the other teacher who uses the studio more than me, will put the heater on if he's too cold. So maybe that has been taking its toll ...

From my own experience: So you even cannot calibrate the display with [Enter] + [3] (in GLOBAL mode), but it is still working, but just doesn't respond if you touch it: If your OASYS was stored in a humid climate with more than 80% humidity (for example in a basement) for several weeks, this could ...

The point Tschury, is that this Forum has a long and hard earned history of good natured, deep technical discussions. You may be new here and from more hostile forums so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt - but - traditionally members here offer evidence with their technical discussions, not ...

Re: Montage by Yamaha

The comparison between 2 and 9 engines is superficial, and very "particular". for example - the filter / DSP capabilities of the Kronos come from the OASYS so that's 12 year old algorithms. Indeed so is HD1 and many of the "engines" you cite. Montage on the other hand is availing of digital ...

Re: Montage by Yamaha

The Montage and the Kronos both feature great sound sets, but they also have significant differences. The Montage has two sound engines, and the Kronos has nine. I created a few short demos for each engine, and you can visit korg.com to hear a different engine demo every week. Here are the links ...

I hear what you're saying with the "unchanging concept" of the Kronos and I think you're right in the sense that they don't seem to be going the "open architecture" route of the Oasys anymore. I'm new to the Korg OASYS/Kronos history, so I may be completely off base. But, I'm wondering what you ...

What I don't like is that Kevin does not have the machine. Let's be clear about this - Kevin does not have the keyboard . I posted the answer from one of ...

As I said above, Supernatural seems to be sample based modelling, where the modelling calculates the timbre changes (velocity changes, decay changes etc.) of sample slices taken from the original instrument to define the basic timbre. Various companies have their own names and technologies for it ...

Supernatural is a family of synthesis approaches; all using computer modelling. It's not scripting. Actually, it's based on samples still. It's not pure modeling. For Supernatural Acoustic Tones, it's a combination of samples and "behaviour modelling" - models on how instruments sound when ...

No, the Oberheim was not old. It was really a great master controller. 8 midi in 8 midi out 1,024 presets. It weighed about 70 lbs. I think is was a production problem. It was always the key weights that would break. I learned later about the A90. Good controller, bad keybed. The early produced A ...

Re: OASYS touch screen Y axis way off, and cannot calibrate

Hi. I was wondering if anyone have a suggestion to solving my problem: The Y axis on my touch screen is way off. At 0 (the top) it is ok, but as I go down the screen, there is an increasing offset. At the bottom it is like 1/4 of the screen, so touching the very button hits somewhere around the ...

8 knobs, no faders, no pads and no tactile modulation / pitch bend wheels (needed for orchestral sample work) Stupid lights above keys that look tacky, cheap and kitch. Why would anybody pay that money for such a pathetic controller when there are a plethora of significantly better spec'd ...
