Yes, I was thinking about one of those. I have a mixer with 3 band EQ so was thinking I could find an ideal balance with that and the gain and input levels of the ESX and the recorder, but a compressor might be more effective. We'll see.

I've tried recording the ESX on a Boss recorder, with mixed results. If I record a pattern with many parts, it seems to not be able to handle the full spectrum of sounds. you can also initialize the ESX but pressing down the write and solo buttons as you turn on the ESX.
