In this video is demonstrated how to turn a mono sample into a nice stereo sample using microtuning.
The SX has the wonderful feature to resample its output, so this technique could be used to get nice sounding stereo samples.

the problem with firmware is that one wrong byte can brick your device forever..
Hence firmware-fiddling is usually done with cheap/old devices.

I tried tricking formatting 256MB XD as 128MB but the electribe wouldnt read it anyways.

I am superhappy with my XD to smartmedia adapter.
It was a pain in the ass to find smartmedia, but XD is much easier to find (and cheaper).
Definately worth the money.
