I think what you're experiencing is the phenomena of over-represented frequency range. Basically, what makes a sounds appear 'full' and therefore 'good' to the human ear (brain) is how much sound energy it contains throughout the audible spectrum, about ~80hz - 16000hz A musical composition sounds ...

You're going to need a storage solution for your triton to save the drums after you transfer them from your computer. Your best choices are a scsi hard drive ($100 and up) or zip drive ($50 and up)

2 minutes sounds high for a 14mb patch if you're loading from a scsi drive. I don't even think the old akai s1000's took anywhere near that long. Unless you're getting error messages/crashes, its not likely to have anything to do with a failing drive, cable or ram No matter what sampler you're using ...

The triton is a very nice piece of gear. Trying to record it using an generic/onboard soundcard is not a good idea. Unless your goal is to just play around and keep your scratch takes for ideas, you're going to have to shell out for a good soundcard/interface. Just posted a buying guide for the ...

As you said, likely you originally sampled at too low of a volume. I would not recommend using EQ as a uniform gain to boost your samples unless you have no choice. Check your global volume settings to possibly get some extra amplification on output. Most samplers have individual output settings for ...

I can also vouch for loop-making features of extreme sample converter (ExSC). Best I've come across, and have used it in many of our libraries. Also has auto-looping and X-FADE. One of the nicest converting programs out there, as well.

If you're on a budget, you may want to check out our "Complete Orchestra Ensemble" library in S1000/S3000 format. There are several string patches and other instruments. Just check the link below and search by your sampler format.

I've got a question about using Akai CD Roms. When I tried using an Akai sample CD, I extracted everything with CD Xtract but it was quite a mess on my hard drive. There are multisamples and each individual wav file was basically random. I also loaded it into Kontakt but it seems that the samples ...
