Participate to a New Music Product Design
Dear Korg Friends, I've been on this Forum for a while since I had several Korg Products (from M1 to Wavestation, M3 and Oasys) and that's the reason why I want to share with you this message today. I've done several music related works, including recording studio work, music trade shows, etc... as ...

If all you want is a "sound box", just buy a MacMini with 8Gb of RAM, SSD, a Motu UltraLite mk3 and an iPad as a touchscreen controller. Then just add NI Komplete 8 Ultimate, and you'll definitely have your sound box, you can even mount it in rack 1U... Probably close to $3000 too, but at least you ...

I'm sure the Kronos SSD isn't really a fast model (but an endurance model), so it shouldn't have a big difference with the HDD of the Oasys in terms of performance. And the Oasys wasn't loading 11 GB of samples neither... Also the inside architecture looks well different from the Oasys to the Kronos ...

Atom Motherboards use SATA II 3Gb/s ports, which allow 300 MB/s bandwidth per port... well enough to handle the SSD. OK, that's hardware. Is there anything software (OS) related that needs to be done to support full bandwidth of the SATA bus? Nothing more that what's already done for the current ...

PS: For whom's wondering, here's some benchmark and speed test (it's done on a MacMini, but it still gives an idea of the speed): http://blog.macsales.com/11258-by-the-numbers-what-can-an-owc-6g-ssd-do-for-your-2011-mac-mini With a Extreme 6G SSD, you can literally read 210 MB/s, so you could load 1 ...

Now, you just need to swap the SSD by a $279 OWC 120 GB SSD, the new Extreme Pro 6G, and it might reduce the boot and loading time by 4 :) I'm just thinking out loud... Here's the OWC page: http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/SSD/OWC/Mercury_6G/ You can still try with a 240 or 480 GB, but it might be too ...

Of course you have to officially declare it to customs. I do live in US and Europe, so I can just buy it from my US address and then bring it with me. But even in this case, we still do need to declare it. You can try to "forget" to declare but it's not something I'd advise to anyone. If you do want ...
