When I press shift from variation 1 to 2 while playing, there a very noticeable jump in variation amplification which great screws up live and recorded performances. Is this a fixable flaw?

First, my pads now all remain the same for all styles and songs. If I can change them individually and then that collective remains the same. It was not this way until recently.
