I didn't get this in 2015 when first posted, now the original link is dead. Is this sample available anywhere else? Hi I've extracted the PCG and KMP/KSF files for the EII shakuhachi (sledgehammer fame) from my kronos.. There doesn't seem to be anywhere on here to post them! If there is a place for ...

My guess is that the size of the kronos user base will mean Kronos after market parts and updates from third parties will step in. After all the Kronos is largely based on OEM components anyway. And to os is open source. So bridges will be built and the design adjusted to work with newer tech. The ...

It seems I maybe about to eat my words!!! I’ve just put together a usb midi host box that enables the interconnection of usb type b ports and avoids needing a pc/Mac/tablet between the two connecting instruments. The box is a Raspberry Pi model B which has two type a USB ports. I’ve installed a sim ...

Well I’ve discounted usb b because it needs an external host e.g. a computer/tablet/notebook.. and then this in turn relies on passing midi via the host to and from the Kronos and RD2000. I have no intention in taking a computer or notebook to gigs in addition to the Kronos as otherwise what’s the po ...

I suppose I came to the party late so I missed that part of the Kronos’s history. Like I say if the manual clearly stated what the USB A type ports support then it would have been a 30min job to understand instead of a couple days. I suppose I should be grateful the Kronos supports midi in via usb A ...

Thanks.. I’m in shock.. seems rather a short sighted omission. I’m wondering why Korg felt that this was OK. Especially when you consider the Kronos USB support is otherwise pretty comprehensive. It seems to me that it is inconsistent with Korg’s concept of the workstation keyboard. One that repla ...

Kronos USB A and Midi output
Do the Kronos USB A type ports support midi output? I’ve setup a combi with the correct channel number, an EXT2 timbre set the MSB and LSB bank select and program change number. When the combi is selected it sends the correct data out the Kronos Midi DIN out (as checked on MidiOX) but does not a ...

I’ve spent a lot of time and effort on trying to get a ‘good’ live piano sound out of stage keyboards. Everything from Yamaha P250 and P515 though Roland RD700SX/GX, RD800, RD2000, Kurzweil Forte, Nord Stage 2 HA88, Casio PX5s, Kawai MP7SE, Kronos K2. My requirements are simply realistic touch and so ...

You may already realise this as I see you’ve figured the importance of the global “Live Mode” setting, but with HD1 programs there are several gotchas that hog voices 1. If your HD1 is using both oscillators it doubles the voices used. Often the second oscillator is adding very little to the sound (p ...

The Kronos inputs are able to handle a wide range of signal levels and impedance. To connect a mic such as an SM58 you need a cable that takes the mic’s XLR balanced out (+&-) and shorts the - to the screen so making it a two connector lead suitable for a standard 1/4” jack. You will need to adjust t ...

SSD is solid state flash rom not magnetic disk so should be immune from magnetic damage. The display is also solid state so won’t be prone to magnetic interference like an old CRT. If you think about how much magnetism is employed by Apple in their products for everything from power connectors to c ...

As someone who’s been round the block a few times I’d say that I agree with your point about the Kronos’s interface. I’ve spent many frustrated hours trying to make an HD1 do what I want.. which page is the LFO added or how do I get the filter cutoff to move with after touch. Etc etc and then there w ...

We covered Sledgehammer a couple of years ago. I build a Kronos program from a copy of the original EII sample (I have an Oberheim DPX1 sample player that will play EII disks) As far as I can tell there was only 1 original sample in that EII program, if you let it play out it covers all of the bits ...
