You might try keeping the Kronos 61 and getting an 88 controller like the Kawai ES110 or the Korg D1. I find those boards to have a friendly hammer-action weight to them. Just one midi cable and BLOUGH! Couldn't be simpler. When I switched from Kronos 88 to 61, it was a huge hassle (shipping delays ...

Ordinarily I would have used the external controller to simply dynamically mute the timbres not used (the k is set to CX3 control panel so the mutes aren’t available!). There's no external access to the Kronos combi timbre mutes via midi!!! The Roland A-Pro Controllers can do that with sysex codes. ...

I'm using a Roland A800 Pro as second keyboard for my kronos 2 88. So I am able to play fast solo synths and organs as well. The A-800 also has a very usable aftertouch and a bender, which I (coming from a Roland Fantom X7) prefer to a joystick or wheels. ^I second that^ The Roland A-Pro series is ...

I started out with the Kronos 88 alone. Dead simple, one keyboard, no extra gadgets. It may have been the most efficient setup--for me. Then I added the Roland A-800 Pro and found it super useful for controlling all the drawbars of the Kronos CX-3 organ engine. I added more and more keyboards and ...

Don't forget the rack version, too! The M4000D is strictly three octaves starting on F. As a midi controller, the pitch shift and the aftertouch works well with the Kronos. You might get a few "stuck" notes when messing about in the menus while playing the M4000D. It's a pity that the Half-Speed ...

Since I'm currently still all-hardware, I'll be using the five-pin DIN MIDI output to control the Kronos (I can't use a USB connection to control the Kronos without a computer in the mix, can I?). No, you don't need a computer for that. The Kronos has two Type A USB ports on the back that you can ...
