Regarding the grill part of things, has anyone ever tried to retrofit a grill onto a K1? I'm guessing for a skilled metalworker it could be an option? Or just a pipedream?

Thanks for the comments, appreciated. I've seen a few pages on the internet showing how to add an extra fan and improved heat sink to a K1, has anyone tried this, and did it make a significant (and worthwhile) difference?

Hi all, As previously posted on here, I'm humming and ha-ing between a Kronos 1 61 and LS88. One issue which has come is running temperature. Is there any difference between the Kronos 1 and 2 in terms of temperatures? I've read various posts mentioning temperatures of about 50-70 for the Kronos 1 ...

Thanks for the reply. LS88 version is non-weighted, actually (to my mind) seems a bit lighter than a 61. I wouldn't be playing piano on it, so I don't think it will be a big issue. Hey all, enjoy my LS88 alot, but it's size and weight (even the LS version) is getting to be a problem. So, crazy question of the day: would it be possible in any way to reduce the size/ weight of it by perhaps by cutting off the top octave to create some kind of 'Kronosstein' 73 or 76 version ...

It's a fair point I'm just not sure whether turning off the fan is an option in the X version, even with software updates. Can someone confirm?

Thanks for the reply. From what you're saying, the X still has fan noise despite software updates and (afaik) additional options to turn the fan off? My LS88 is 100% quiet, and for my requirements it would be vital that any replacement is equally silent.

To clarify, I'm not overwriting presets when loading in the new soundset (I always use bank GG when loading a new bank) just the samples from prevously-installed soundsets seem to disappear - I get a 'samples not loaded' message. I guess this must be a different problem, right?
