The Electribe does things my $2,000 Tempest can't do (record chords into the sequencer, start on beat when slaved to MIDI, record automation via the knobs, receive control change / CCs, etc.) I think people just like to complain no matter what they get. Except of course modular people, whenever they ...

Hmmm... You are giving me lots to think about A couple questions tho: 1 - How good is the octatrack for studio use? It seems like a mostly live tool 2 - How is the sequencer compared to the mpc's? 3 - How is playing those hard buttons on the octatrack? 4 - And lastly regarding the ES2 how annoying ...

How about Ableton Live <Octatrack> Electribe 2 That would be a pretty bad ass setup. The OT is your sampler AND DJ mixer. It's a ton more flexible than a simple mixer, and amazing for making your incoming audio more "live". (plus it's quite satisfying once you get the hang of it!) Using the OT as a ...

Another thing that should be mentioned is that you can setp up the ES2 to trigger notes of a certain scale. That's not possible afaik on the MPC. I thought this was possible with JJOSXL am I wrong? Thanks everyone for the feedback so far! Edit: plus I would most likely be keeping my E2 so chromatic ...

I forgot to mention that the learning curve isn't bad at all. It seems intimidating at first, but the MPC1k is actually really intuitive.

I have the E2, not the E2s. But I have owned an MPC 1000 as well. I'd say the MPC is going to blow away the E2 for sequencing or composing. 4 bars is really kind of a joke if you want to do anything composed. However the MPC is not really great for live / improv. Every video you see on Youtube you ...

I would say Octatrack for sure. First of all if you get comfortable with real time sampling (one shot recorder trigs), you can grab samples of the pattern playing on your E2 and a quick flick of the fader and it will be playing immediately on the Octatrack. Then you can queue up a new pattern or ...

On more question if I may ... Do you find the macro knobs for synth sounds very "tweak able" or medium "tweak able" Yes. The parameters are well chosen and sounds that appear fairly "vanilla" when browsing the presets can have quite a bit of life once automation is applied. When you change synth ...

That's what I thought. Still doesn't answer sauce's question though and I would be curious? any spec on the sequencers resolution in ppqn? It's 16th notes, 4/4. The drum patterns are 16 steps, though synth patterns can be fewer than 16. (as few as 1 step.) It does support per-step automation and ...

You can switch sessions on the fly too though, right? Yep, you launch them similar to scenes in Ableton. By default, session changes are quantized to the end of the longest pattern in the current session. However if you hold Shift, the change is immediate, quantized to a single beat. What's cool is ...

Nice one. Can each pattern have different synth/drum sounds assigned to each part? (Eg pattern 1 has sound A for synth 1, then pattern 2 has sound B for synth 1). if so, do things get chopped short on pattern change? The Synth/Drum parts use the same preset for all patterns within a session ...
