record style part from external MIDI

sorry if this has been asked before is it possible to record a style element from external sequencer ( I am using Cubase Pro 
lets say I want to play a midi drum loop in cubase I can hear it fine in style record mode in Korg PA900 but for some reason I am not able to record it, I tried adjusting the MIDI settings in global mode with no luck, can anyone help..
