I know i sound like a broken record,but the KRONOS keeps exceeding my expectations.
My old roland vs 2400 daw, had latency when i would try to record midi timed tracks.
I could not just record midi tracks from anywhere in a song. If i did, things started going out of sync a little.
KRONOS is tight!
I can record from any place within a sequence audio and midi and everything holds together perfectly.
I know the KRONOS sequencer gets a sort of bad rap.
I understand that it isnt going to do what a software sequencer can do, but i dont need it to.
For me, the ability to record on KRONOS sequencer and punch in and out like a tape recorder is pretty cool. I could never do that on the old yamaha motif 6 i had.
For me personaly, I have found whatever i can imagine to record, i can do it all with KRONOS.

I used the Triton Extreme sequencer for six years, so using the Kronos sequencer is almost second nature to me. Also, I was very happy upgrading from 5 total insert FX to 12, which I absolutely love. I find the Kronos sequencer to be very user-friendly, and extremely functional. When I was 19, my first sequencer was a Brother PDC-100 (a very effective 32-track stand-alone), then an Ensoniq EPS 16+, so I've come a long way over the years!

I think that the sequencer is great - sure it has limitations, but you can do amazing stuff with it if you spend the time to really get to grips with it - it is powerful!!

For me the sequencer is “Almost” perfect.

I just which KORG would standardise it's existing function across it's other edit menus. For example, the menu item “Shift/Erase Note” on the track edit page is missing from the Pattern Page.

Or, lets say you want to remove CC07 from every track. There's no “all tracks” tick box, yet the tick box is on every other relevant menu.

Hey guys. Sorry of this is a little late to the thread but the topic is extremely relevant for me. I've had a Kronos X 88 for a couple of years now, and I have never really clicked with the sequencer. I did not come from a history of Korg sequencers. I started on Alesis MMT-8 and Ensoniq SD-1 was the workstation I first cut my teeth on with hardware sequencing, so that's not what gets me, I just need to see some examples of workflow.

Are there any particularly good start to finish tutorials for the Triton/OASYS/Kronos sequencer (I guess they would overlap enough) starting from blank to make some patterns, arrange / mute some patterns out to song-length, done. My head is so much in either Live / Reason or another linear DAW now that I just immediately feel like I'm hitting a wall and continue playing, but not recording, the keyboard onboard.

I still use it to make my drum tracks. I really do need to learn how to use Groove Agent on my Cubase DAW though. I'm just really comfortable with putting my drum parts together with the Kronos' sequencer. That and I really like the drum sounds.

I've typically found I'm much more productive on the Kronos' sequencer than I am on a PC DAW, mostly because of the maintenance required in keeping a PC-based DAW running smoothly. Yet I keep persisting with the PC, because on paper it is supposedly more powerful.

People complain that the Kronos sequencer isn't user friendly. But I'm finding Cubase 7.5, with its endless dialog boxes, hidden options and unlabelled buttons to actually be harder to use, if more powerful.

The main thing missing for me on the Kronos is being able to easily record mix automation. I haven't found an easy way to replace mix automation that's already been recorded, for example. If anyone has any tips on this, I'm all ears because I'd really love to be able to use the Kronos more for its sequencer!

The only way so far, that i have been able to overwrite automation is to go to Track Edit, Erase Measure, then choose Control Change.
It at least clears automation to get a fresh take.
I am going to dive deeper to see if there is a way to overwrite/record in real time the automation.
I will post results in a day or two, or if someone on the forum can tell us if it is possible or not.
