Korg M50 Editor with Cubase 8

I have had my beloved M50 and Cubase 5 connected via USB working harmoniously for the past god knows how many years without so much as a hiccough, glitch or bump in the musical world. Even with the onset of windows 8 and 8.1 sheer perfection and well everything is fine and dandy. So a week back I decided to treat myself to an early Christmas present and bought the upgrade to Cubase 8 Pro. Installed and working fine...

I set up the editor and copied across the m50 editor VST to the appropriate folder and now I have 2 bizarre things occurring!

1. If I turn on my M50 and then open cubase 8 and create a midi track I get a midi in and out signal but as soon as I fire up the M50 Plug-In editor VST they will not connect to each other no matter how many times I rescan etc.

2. If I open Cubase 8 and then turn on my M50 I get no midi connectivity, however if I load up the M50 editor VST they connect fine I can play the keys on the screen and I get sound. If i play the keys on the actual M50 the keys on the M50 editor react but I get no sound and no midi activity in Cubase.

I have changed midi inputs and outputs I have also changed the local settings on the M50 amongst a few other things and well Im stumped :(

If I load up cubase 5 it all works perfectly as it has the past x amount of years.

Has anyone got any ideas, please :)
