Patches cutting off when changing
When I am changing patches in combi mode my sound cuts off as soon as I move to a new patch. Is there a way to change this or get around this so things are not so abrupt when playing live?

Kronos is the 1st Korg board to not have that abrupt change.
The abrupt cut-off or audible switch is principally caused by changing/resetting the effects associated with each new program or combi selected.
This problem and workarounds have been subject to many posts, but the gist of the workaround is to find away to have several sounds within a single FX structure.
You can do this in combination mode by setting up several instrument tracks/channels and then muting or using mix (virtual faders) to get the next timbre. This approach would allow you to crossfade sounds pretty easily, but only if you are out of the normal PLAY screen.
Similarly, setting up a sequence results in a structure similar to a combination - all under one FX set-up - but the mute and active buttons are a little more visible. Sequences are more direct switch oriented; moving between tracks rather than cross fading. It does allow you to bring in multiple instruments (layers) more easily. [The sequence does not need to be playing to make this work.]

As a side note to dmitra's method, when you highlight the sound to be changed within the combi you are in edit mode - selecting from either a bank or instrument type depending on which soft-button you pushed on the screen.
You should see a "page" that includes the original (current) instrument highlighted and adjacent instruments within the bank or instrument list. Selecting one of those is just a matter of highlighting (touch) the new sound.
The selection should instantaneous as each new candidate instrument is highlighted; you don't have to press enter to hear the sound. You only have to press enter if you want to use the touchscreen for some other function or to switch to a new combi or sound.
Do note though that you'll be using the same FX structure for any new sound you select with this method, so an FX dependent synth lead may sound very different when its dropped into a combi that is written to have a piano in that slot.
Using anything but a Kronos you only get continuity if (or because) the FX don't change.
To paraphrase George Orwell, "some synths are more equal that others".
