Needing advice on first edit

As a new Krome user, I want to have a go at my first edit.

Can anyone give me some pointers on the kind of things I would need to adjust to get a meaty growly sax sound?

Also, when I edit a sound and save with a new name in a new location, will the changes I make overwrite the original patch?
Thanks

Second part first. Overwrite occurs when you save in the same place. You won't need to worry about that if, as you said, you save into a new location. It is possible to write the same name tho so you will need to be careful of that. Saving the same name will not have any effect on combis that contain the original sound. However, overwriting an existing sound can definitely change a lot of combis if you aren't careful.

Sax is one of those instruments that have a very change-ful or dynamic character. Unfortunately, the typical korg sax sample/program is best in an ensemble (think big band sax section) rather than solo role. Changes to the characteristics of any preset sound therefore tend to be static as well, unless you can figure out a way to add them using an AMS (alternate modulation source) such as velocity or a joystick push to control the variation when you want.

I don't know if krone has it but there have been "growl sax +y" joystick controlled saxes on most korg synths - changing the AMS to velocity is probably possible and easily done.

You might also be able to add a "growly" square wave LFO with a velocity AMS that would add variable level of grit to a standard sax voice - you actually want a fairly high frequency to do this; the LFO should almost be producing a sub octave sound.
