Import Audio File and use without time slicing

I have done slicing with success. But here is a challange, at least for me. I cannot find it in the manual. I like to import a 5 - 10 sec audio file and save it without time slicing and use it in a style - Pad. It's a live chorus I like to use in one of my songs I play. I don't even know if this is possible, but sure would be nice have a live chorus in the background at certain places in the song.
Your help would be greatly apreciate it.

Does the Chorus performance follow a particular tempo, or it just has an ambient pad like quality?

If you can't or don't want to time-slice it, that would be just a one-shot type of sample....just like triggering a cymbal crash using pads. If it's a rhythmic performance, it would only make sense to get it time sliced.

HI Sam:
Inthis case, the chorus has the same tempo as the song I play. No it is not a rhythmic performance.
I think I am just doing something wrong and cannot figure it out. You correct, I would like to do it so that this ample will be triggered from Pad. And yes it should be a one-shot type sample.
However, everytime I try to save the sample it places it in a drumkit. In this case I saved it in SFX. But when I want to call it up I cannot find it.
Frustrating. However, I know I am doing something wrong. Just can't figure it out.

I am in a loss here. I have tried to import a 10 sec audio sample and just can't do it. It will save somewhere in a SFX drumkit, but when I want to use it in a pad I cannot seem to find it. What am I doing wrong here.
There is something I don't understand, I guess. I can slice the sample, but than it's un-useable for me. HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need to create a Multisample out of the Sample that you created and then you would be able to save it as a Sound.

Check this Youtube video: https://youtu.be/dSySSfQBj74

and the next part - https://youtu.be/A2i2WR0fM_M

I have done that and was able to assign to my Style.

Wow. Everything is much clearer now. Thank you very much for these instructional videos. Once you know it it's a piece of cake. I am trying that also out now with the pads. Maybe it'll work to import them as a pad.
Thank you very much Picasa99. Well done.

You are most welcome Snorkum. :D

The trouble, of course, is that even ambient samples can often have SOME sort of rhythm. But the answer is not to time slice them... Play the tempo slower than the original file, and you now have nasty gaps between the samples.

Other keyboards already do this job by time-stretching the samples. No slicing necessary! You just tell the keyboard what the original tempo is, and it stretches or time compresses the sample to account for your new tempo.

Korg need to add this badly... and make these samples load direct from the stick or HD, it is SO 20th century to have to preload everything!

With Pa-Keyboards gaps between sliced samples, when slowing down the tempo, can be automatically filled by the Extend function, smoothing each sample’s tail.

No time compression or expansion necessary, as sliced audio are playing at its original speed. Gaps occurs as result of shifting events and are filled using decay functions. So slicing still is a good choice for drums and percussions.

Time-stretching only should be used over small temporanges else serious degradation of audio-quality (artefakte, tremolos) occurs, maybe suitable for rhythmic-guitar and keyboard parts.

Works pretty well on my Roland... Yes at extreme tempo changes, the audio suffers, but within practical tempo limits, it's quite acceptable, especially if you use .wav and not .mp3.

But yes, slicing works nicely for percussive material, but if you want more sustained stuff, timestretching is the only way to go.

But the bottom line about the difference between both features is that, because there are no laborious tasks to go through to be able to add the loop and sync it, the timestretching option is the better one because you tend to use what is easy, and use stuff that takes a ton of time to get right very seldom.

If the loop is part of the mix, and not the entire mix, whatever audio artifacts stretching introduces are generally masked.

Have you tried a BK-9, sieben?

If one think stuff to realize ones individual needs is not worth to take some time, one tends to use what is easy - ok, should use it as the only way to go for one.

NC about difference between features or options, NC what option or methode is better, NC about what would generally be the only way to go.

Whatever audio artifacts stretching introduces are generally masked; gaps as result of shifting events are filled using decay functions.

NC? Still unsure that your English is good enough to get your point across...

Sorry, but this post makes little sense.
