Hi everyone, I hope someone can provide me with some ideas about this problem.
I bought an m50 second hand last year and it worked flawlessly for months. I was even able to connect via USB to my Mac and use it with some DAW software.
However, I tried installing the Korg M50 Editor app (and the KORGUSB-MIDI driver that comes with it), and -- maybe this is just a coincidence -- since then, I have had this problem.
Most times, when I turn my keyboard on -- with or without the USB connected -- a message will briefly flash in the top-left corner of the touch-screen. It says something like "FX DSP Write Error". When this happens, the board is responsive, until I press a key (or send some kind of MIDI - the foot pedal is enough), whereupon it freezes and the entire system locks up. However, very occasionally, somehow, if I turn it on, it will decide to behave normally and will output sound.
As I use this board for the occasional live performance, I need it to be reliable. Does anyone have any experience with this problem? Any ideas for how to go about fixing it? I've tried a factory reset (holding 0 and Enter while booting and then restoring demo data) but it didn't stop the problem.

You need to determine if the problem is on the Mac or the M50. Does the problem occur if you disconnect the USB cable? If it works ok without the USB then it's likely that the USB driver or some other software is causing the problem. If the problem exists without the USB connection then there is a problem in the M50.
Ah, sorry for not being clearer. It happens without being plugged in. I've taken the board to practices and even one gig where it has done this. Luckily with the gig after stressing for a few minutes, one final hail Mary try allowed me to perform.
Because of its intermittent nature, I suspect some kind of software problem, but I suppose it could also be hardware? Any ideas? And thanks for helping, BaldEagle.
