rename sounds legacy

I've installed the M1 Legacy software and going through all the options. I've noticed that you can select and rename instrument sounds. Like 'Universe' into 'Galaxy' if I wanted to.
I was wondering if renaming sounds is permanent? Or that it will revert into its default state every time I re-open the software?
And should I mess all names up, is there a way to reset everything to it's default factory state so all names will be as original?
Update:
I'm guessing the same goes for editing the sound itself? So when I rename an instrument and edit it sound settings, it will revert to it's default state when being reselected, until I save the new named instrument and its sound settings to a user file?
So unless I rename/edit the instrument/sound and save it for future use, it will return to its default name and settings when selected another time?
