New Styles and New Book

Post by phelene »

I am brand new at the Korg PA3X. I'm finding it very challenging. First of all, the styles that Korg has on the Web, how do put it into the keyboard? Secondly can I created a new book. As I play in Church every Saturday I would like to have all my songs in one book called gospel. Is that possible. Any assistance will be appreciated.

hi!for the styles just download the zip files then unzip put into a pen .
then insert the pen on pa3 go to media button on the left of the screen chose load select the pen open paste you can chose load individual style or load all to a favorite or user bank.
for the book you can save the original book that it comes with pa3 then delete it and start to make a new one.its easy just follow the edit pages.

An alternative to deleting the Songbook is making a Custom List, or several Lists.
There are some default Lists already, but it's easy top make your own.

Hurray... It works. I finally loaded some new styles and sound. Coming from a Roland VA76, there were a few sounds and beat that I was accustomed to and I found some in Styles VOL 1 and 2 so far. Also I was a bit reluctant to delete the songbook and I think I will leave it and create a custom list as you suggested every Saturday. I'm very happy now.
('')
Thanks a lot....

Hi phelene
Welcome to our Forums and congratulations on the PA3X purchase.

Keep your questions coming - we're here to help.
Yes it is a bit daunting at first but Oh Oh so worth it.

Just remember to constantly "save" your changes to disk (in MEDIA mode).

All the best

Thanks, but the advice came a bit late. What I did not know is when you load a style, a sound or even a book it just overwrites the original. I was expecting that it would insert it not overwrite it. I spent hours working on my performance for next Saturday and writing everything to "the book" just to find out that the styles and things I was playing with overwrites everything. So I've lost everything. I would like to load the original book and I think I have to start from scratch. I also don't know if you only have 12 Favorites and 3 user, how do you transfer them from one bank to another. Meaning that Favorite 1 has 5 pages and 3 of them is blank, how do I transfer what is in favorite 2 to page 3 of favorite 1. ('').
Not Happy, but enjoying it all the same.

If I understand your question, the drop-down menu at the top of the page allows you to Copy User or Favorite styles from one location to another.

Hi,
I'm not sure you are fully understanding the Songbook function. The Songbook is not related to User pages or Favourites but is an almost unlimited list of all your song setups (you can have 1000's).
Say you have found a Style and Sound setup you like. Press the Songbook button, choose Edit Book 1 and Write it (make sure you rename it to the song name you want). Now here's a tip to make things easier in the futute - go to Edit Book 2 and type in the genre field "Gospel" (or as an alternative just put your initials as the Artist. Now here's the trick - go back into Songbook and touch the "Filter" button towards the bottom. In the Genre field type in Gospel. Now only your songs will appear in the list (but you haven't lost any of the others). You can turn filter on or off at any time.
You can still use the Custom List feature later but the advantage of having all your songs tagged as Gospel or with your initials is that you can revert to all your songs easily using the filter button.
Hope this helps.

I have all mine saved under MINE for Genre.
I suppose if you have a Songbook entry calling up, say, Favorite 1, number 1 style, and you delete that style, Songbook would no longer call it up. Maybe that is the problem.

Thanks guys, What I did wrong in the songbook, I created all my song and save it in the original book and as you mention Reuben I had the Genre called Gospel but when I was trying to play around with the styles, one of them had a songbook which I thought will merge with the other one and when it says to load, I loaded, then I lost the songbook. So I couldn't find anything in the last backup so I restarted OS 1.62 and I then got the book back. I have since downloaded the songbook editor which is also a mystery, because when I save the new set as "Merge.SET" I couldn't find it on any drive. I still can't find it. So this is not important so far. I will try and create a list every week as I have over 300 songs to go from the Roland to the Korg with the same Beat, Speed and instrument as possible. Now what is important is that I downloaded about 18 different styles and only have 15 banks. Most of it only use 1 page. How do I copy, paste and delete the styles from one bank to another. And can you tell me what is PCM it contains RAM01 to RAM50.

Thanks for all your assistance, greatly appreciated.
