M50 Midi question

I am trying to runs some sounds from my M50 on a Alesis Micron so that I can do some volume swells from the Micron without affecting what I am playing on the M50.

What I am finding is that the Micron is only playing back through the channels of the M50. Is there a way to separate these 2 so that I can have the Micron isolated to it's own channel?
