Hi everybody,
I own a Korg M50 since June 2010.
Everything was right, but in November 2012 the workstation started to have some volume problems. I send it to repair, but incredibly after some days they called me and told me that everything was all right and that they didn't find any problem with the M50.
And so again everything went good until a couple of weeks ago: the problem returned, and everything was worse than before. Today I was playing with my friend and suddenly the M50 didn't sound anymore...oh, before this some keys I pressed didn't sound like the note i was pressing (example: I pressed C3 and the M50 played F#4 and so on), lots of IFX were applied random and without a meaning and most sounds were distorted.
After two hours everything seems to be returned normal, but I still have volume problems and this is not the first time I get this stuff.
What should I do? Please Help me!!
M50 totally tilt

Hi, my point of view about the issues are maybe due overheating of the main processor (MX-1) and Big Endian (PCM-DSP effects chip). The Pa500 use the same architecture and similar OS as the M50. On my arranger I decided to cool down the chips to avoid malfunctioning issues due overheating. Modern devices use the ball grid array case (small contact pins below the ICs) to transfer the silicon heat to the PCB circuit board. Unfortunately heat produce mechanical forces due expansion/contraction of the pins and the PCB solder mask (also heat can degrade the logic inside the chips) leading to random issues.
Overheating on digital devices are the root causes about random issues and boards RIP. You can try to re install the OS firmware to discard corrupted data on the flash EEPROM.
My advice is to ask for technical support on a music store or Korg official services if the issue remains. Regards.
