Updating the firmware.

I've installed the USB-MIDI drive.
Followed the instructions.
When I run KRONOS_Updater I get the following message:
"Midi out port is not exist: KRONOS 1 SOUND"
And, the software version is not shown and the update button is not available.
Any clue?
Thanks

Can you connect with the editor? That was how I tested my connection even though I have never used it.

Then it worked!

I had the same message but after doing the following got it to work.
Install the most recent MIDI driver. When KRONOS is connected you should then be prompted to complete the driver installation. Once this is done the update should then work.
Firmware update...

Turn off Kronos and press/hold Enter and Pause keys then turn it on. A blank screen will appear but I-B will be lit. Then at this time connect the USB cable to the computer. Then click on the firmware update. Be sure the latest Midi-Driver is installed prior to doing this.

It is important to make sure you follow steps 1 and 2 in the instructions that are provided before connecting via USB.

Does it have to be USB to USB or can I use firewire?

Never mind I used my USB B to USB A from my audio interface. The startup screen is cool. And wow I still have the majority of my hair!! Win-Win.

how important is it to update the firmware. I've been trying for hours now and it just won't work. I have the latest drivers installed. It could be that I have not opened the vsb file

(Not sure what a "vsb" file is??)
Firmware IS important!!!
If you follow the instructions absolutely letter by letter and in the sequences specified the update should work fine.
DO NOT CONNECT your Kronos to the PC/Mac too soon!! Do it in the correct sequence as per the instructions otherwise it will not work.
Part of the procedure PDF (Mac) wrote:Updating the firmware
1. On the KRONOS, hold down the ENTER and PAUSE buttons. While continuing to
hold the two buttons, turn on the power.
This will put the system into firmware update mode. The display will be blank,
and the Bank I-B LED will be turned on.
2. Connect the KRONOS’s USB B port (the single, boxy connector, as opposed to the
two flat connectors) to a USB A port on the computer.
Note: it is important that USB is connected AFTER step 1, above.
3. Double-click the file "KRONOS_Sub-System_mac_604.dmg."
This opens a disk image containing the updater.
4. On the disk image, double-click the file "KRONOS_Updater_V06R04" to start the
updater.

Part of the procedure PDF (PC) wrote:Updating the firmware
1. Un-zip the file named “KRONOS_Sub-System_win_604.zip.”
Un-zip the entire contents of the zip file. The updater requires that all files be present
and un-zipped before proceeding.
2. On the KRONOS, hold down the ENTER and PAUSE buttons. While continuing to hold
the two buttons, turn on the power.
This will put the system into firmware update mode. The display will be blank, and
the Bank I-B LED will be turned on.
3. Connect the KRONOS’s USB B port (the single, boxy connector, as opposed to the two
flat connectors) to a USB A port on the computer.
Note: it is important that USB is connected AFTER step 2, above.
4. Run the program “KRONOS_Updater.exe.”
The rest of the instructions shows screen examples of what to expect.
Hope it all goes well.
Cheers
Pete

I have followed the instructions to the letter and am still getting the MIDI OUT DOES NOT EXIST error message. I have tried two different USB cables to no avail.
I have installed the latest drivers, still not working.
Could someone tell me please what happens when you connect your Kronos to your PC.
Do you get a Korg driver window come up?
It is really frustrating that some people have problems and others don't .
Any help would be gratefully received.
