Only way I know of getting direct control of FILLs on the PA600 is by using an external midi controller. Something like this ...

http://www.zzounds.com/item--AKAMPKMINI

You can remotely select the various Style Elements on the Pa600, by sending it Program Change messages on the Control channel. Fills 1-4 are Program Change 87-90 respectively.

Thoraldus...that certainly works but the only problem is not being able to control what is in the fill. In many styles the fills are choppy sounding because for instance the bass note automatically retriggers at normal volume when it was decaying. I wish the fills could be triggered on the beat that you wanted it triggered (like next half note, next eighth, etc.) and that you could set it up where the fill would only include what voices you wanted to sound.

Hopefully that makes sense.

Blessings...!

You can edit a style and change the fills to include the instruments you want or mute channels.

STYLE PLAY MODE
Press RECORD
Select Record/Edit Current Style
Press OK
Change ELEMENT to Fill1 to Fill4
You can now modify the instruments, levels, muting and even the cue mode for each fill.
If you press MENU you can select EVENT EDIT to edit the fills step by step.
After making a change press START/STOP to audition your change.
When you're happy with the changes, select the drop down menu in upper right hand corner of LCD and WRITE STYLE to save.

Thanks Thoraldus...didn't know that. It will be a little bit of some doing to work on those, but that should take care of the problem!

Thanks and God bless

Unrelated question. How can I keep the lower part playing after hitting a chord once, but with out the drums? It would just be strings sound playing continuously... Anyone know how I can achieve this? Seen on YouTube...

While in autofill mode ,when changing from var1 to var2 then fill2 is triggered
also from var4 to var1 then only fill 4 is triggered or Fill1 if Fill4 doesn't exist.
- The option to avoid a bad fill while in autoFill ,you have to delete it from record edit.
- The option to get rid of unpleasant note re triggering in the middle of a measurement or
undefined behavior of DK hits while in AutoFill mode , then in Record edit set all fills and
brake in "next measure first measure" mode but always change Var at previous measure before
fill's measure to get the desired results.

Also remember that while playing a Var for instance Var3 , when you press Var3 button again then
var3 behaves as Fill3 and existing Fill3 is activated !

A two fills style of older than Pa3X series , is translated to four , duplicating fill1 and fill2 at 12 - 34 respectively.
In that case deleting Fill2 & Fill3 respectively , you keep on hearing Fill2 & Fill3 while changing between Var2 & Var3
that is obviously a Bug !!!

I think Korg should have make it simple:- pressing the Var1 will trigger Fill1, Var2 will trigger Fill2 etc in any sequence and combination, like in Yamaha. If we want to go from Var1 to Var2, but still want Fill1; then, whether pressing the Var1 (for Fill1) and immediately pressing the Vari2 will give the result?

theres manual fill-in on pa600 but u need 2 fingers ..for example..youre on var1 and want to use fill4..press autofill+var4 together..youll get fill4..
autofill+var1=fill1
autofill+var2=fill2
autofill+var3=fill3
autofill+var4=fill4
it works even auto fill is on or off

Wow! Thanks for that little jewel! I completely missed that in the manual. Do you have a reference page?

Yes, I do. Anybody with original OS can check to see if this works? Maybe they slipped one in on us. ;-)

Its very simple in PSRs. You are at Var1, wants Fill4 and still to be at Var1, then simply press Var4 (for Fill4) and immediately press Var1. Thats it, simple... If you are at Var1 want to go to Var3 through Fill2, then press Var2 (for Fill2) and immediately press Var3. yes its simple, as a ;one man band'.

I just checked and you do not have to be very precise in hitting the two keys at the same time. KORG has apparently programmed the function to accommodate us humans. ;-)
