startup problem - monitor disconnected message

Post by gelmo_korg »

I get the icon showing the monitor disconnected from the PC icon when I power on the O76. What's sporadic now is if I leave it unplugged for a bit, plug it in and go, I get the boot from CD prompt, OASYS shows on the screen, the bar begins to load, it goes a few seconds, then the screen goes black but it seems like the backlight is blinking on and off. Sometimes the system boot beep sounds on startup, even if the disconnected icon shows up. I never get any of the controls lit but the vector joystick and the blue strip under the LCD, and never any sound. Any ideas?

Hi,

some people had the same problem f.e.
http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... ht=monitor

If you use the search funktion you´ll find also other threads. I rember somewhere a forumer wrote he opened the Oasys an could fix the problem because a cable was loose, but I don´t remeber the exact solution.

best regards

Did you check out the link that Soulbe provided? It's suggested that you take your board apart and check for any loose connections.
Current gear: Korg Kronos 61, Voicelive 2, Shure SM58, Alesis M1 Active 520, Focusrite Scarlett 18i6

+1

Chances are that nothing is wrong with your keyboard. It's a good idea to check for a loose connection. You only have to remove 2 screws (one on each side), to flip open the top. It's made to open and close for easy access.

Hi Mike,

thanks for that pic. It would be great for people like me who have no idea of how to open the O if you could post more pics or maybe a little vid in the future.
When a key was broken at my motif es 8 I managed to change it because I found a video in the web that explained how to open and what to do. Maybe an idea for the very much appreciated unofficial DVD 2 ? ;)

Hi, SoulBe. It's already included on the first DVD. Look in the Short Demos 2, "Opening it up" section.

Go to that link, and enter your information. I notice that OASYS is no longer in the list, but I suggest selecting Kronos and seeing what comes up. If you find a service center then, call them and ask if they can service an OASYS.
