- everything freezes and no sound coming out of the m50
- after it freezed i turned off and on the m50. a msg appeared on the screen saying "calibrating left pane" "calibrating right panel"

Freezing is a well known problem of m50. Try to upgrade to latest os and see if it will get better. Otherwise you can also try a hard reset.

You will lose all your patches with a hard reset! Backup them before you do one!

in my case, i sent it to korg authorized tech center and they say they changed a couple of capacitors. since then, it works perfectly.
i have read of other users that have had the whole motherboard replaced or sometimes the whole m50...

the problem is that there is no korg center in my country. i live in lebanon.
But i know a very gd technician who works with guitars amps. do u think if he s skilled enough he can solve that issue.
i really hope so. i bought the m50 5months ago.. i m really disappointed.
thanks btw for the quick helpful replies

if you bought from a shop 5 months ago, your M50 should be in warranty, so the shop shall take care of repair with no charge. try to ask them.

Hello all,
First post but a sad post here
My M50-61 has a similar issue but I am confused. I brought it used and am in a fix now so please help.
When playing, randomly the buttons go dead. I mean, I can continue playing well and good and also the touchscreen works normally. Other than that, no button or knob will work.
I am aware of the freezing issue. But in my case only the buttons wont work. After i restart it, it works for some time and again I cant operate buttons and knobs. Is it a contact issue? Any guide to opening the synth? Please help, I m in distress.

Before you open up the unit - what version of the operating system are you running? The version number would be displayed on the splash screen as the machine boots up. The latest system version is 1.1.0. If you're not on that version, an update might solve your problem.
Go to KORG.com and click on the support tab. Select M50 from the dropdown and expand the Operating system tab. Scroll down to Version 1.1.0 and CAREFULLY read the instructions for updating the board.
Hopefully, this will solve the problem.
