Hi, new user of the Ms. I'm a bit confused about the banks in this board and other synths in general, I guess. I don't quit know what they mean. I've noticed that the A bank covers all of the keyboards and then bleeds into the strings/brass/woodwind categories. The B bank does the same in the 3rd and 4th. categories. And so on.

When saving programs is it important to save to a particular bank?

If this has been hashed out before somewhere on some site or another page please point me in the right direction. I searched the parameter guide but couldn't find much.

Banks are simply slots for saving your programs. There is no intrinsic structure in them. For that, you have Categories and sub categories. Is the fastest way of finding a sound you are looking for.
You can save your program to any bank location, but beware that if you use one of the preloaded slots, it will replace the sound already in that location. There are some programs in Bank D called "INIT PROG". Those are unused slots, and you can write your own programs there.

In my case, once I started running out of program slots, I replaced sounds that I will definitively know I wont be using anytime in the near future, like crazy drum kits and the sort, for example. But you'll have to decide for yourself which sound you don't use, and use that slot.

One bit of advice: Name your user sub categories with meaningful names, so you won't lose your programs. Since I mostly cover a few prog and pop rock bands, I named my sub cats with the band name, like Genesis, Rush, Dream, Queen, Elton, etc. Your structure I'm sure will vary, but is the general idea.
