Wireless ethernet solved - sort of

Here is how i am able to achieved semi-wireless internet with my kronos:
I have my laptop communicating with my network wirelessly.
I took a crossover cable and connected my kronos to the laptop unused ethernet port and manually assigned an ip on the kronos.
I can now ftp to the kronos via my laptop (using the crossover cat5 cable) and then transfer files wirelessly to my other pc's or anywhere on the internet using the laptop wireless ethernet function.
No router or hub required for kronos ftp function to work.
I will do a video demo if anyone is interested.

You could also go Wireless without the hassle by using one of theses.

Connect the KRONOS to this, and it's always available on your Wireless Network.

Maybe so, but a $3 cable is cheaper. Plus, it doesnt seem practical to take a wifi extender to a gig.
Also seems like more of a hassle to configure a wifi extender than a crossover connection, no?
Just offering a suggestion to the forum that i found useful. I hope others find it usefull too.

Is anyone really going to be using the FTP functionality at a gig? I think it would be mainly useful in a studio.
It's good thinking, but really isn't much more. Complicated than just using a memory stick, having to transfer stuff from one computer to another and back again.. I just don't really quite see what this solves.

True, it's certainly an option.
Considering the fact that you are working with more than one PC though, it's not exactly ideal.
It does work though so well done.
Plus, it doesnt seem practical to take a wifi extender to a gig.
At a gig ? lol... Really...!!!!
Nobody transfers files at a gig.

all you need to do is follow the instructions that come with it (most of those things usually come with a CD that basically set the whole thing up). It's really easy. Once you have the bridge on your wireless network, you just connect a Cat5 cable to it from your Kronos. This is the same device that was used to give wif access to the original Xbox.

There's not much to it.
1: You plug it into the wall socket.
2: You can at this point see it as a new unprotected Wi-Fi Network, so you just connected to it with your PC or Smart Phone.
3: You then go to
www.mywifiext.net and login with the user name “admin” and password “password” to pair the device with your existing secure Wi-Fi network.
This is not an actual website. This is a page stored within the little device that will pair it with your actual secure Wi-Fi Network.
4: On the screen you will now see your existing secure Network displayed and any other networks in your area. Neighbours house and so on... Simply select your secure network and enter in the password for that network to connect to it securely, and to secure your new Network Extender.
5: You then give your Network Extender a Wi-Fi name. It will pick a name itself which is normally the name of your existing network with the worlds EXT added on the end. You can leave this unchanged or give it whatever name you like.
Job Done....
You can now plug the KRONOS into the Network Extender and you can access it over Wi-Fi from anywhere in your home.

I didn't see a USB port on the pic you posted. so would you STILL have to have a USB ethernet adapter?
if not how would you plug it in.

yes, you still need the ethernet adapter.
