Monotribe V2 loading problem

Hi- can someone tell me what I am doing wrong please. I have downloaded the v2 wav file. I have pressed Flux, HH & step 1 before switching on giving the three green lights. I am playing it into the Monotribe sync in slot via windows media player out of the headphone socket of my computer using the mini jacks. I keep getting the 'loading failed' flashing lights no matter the volume level. I have even tried recording the wav on a digital recorder- no success. What am I doing wrong? Cheers

I just upgraded mine today and I had no problems - but I've heard other people say they had to try several times before it worked. Possibly the cable you're using is crappy? Or the device is adding some kind of noise / interrupting it with some kind of system sound? Any interference will screw it up... Also make sure that Windows Media Player doesn't have some sort of auto-EQ or sound enhancement going on - because I suspect that would screw it up too. Maybe try downloading Audacity and playing it with that? That will give a faithful output of the sound file

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/windows

It may take some playing around and trying out other devices (I used an LG Android phone - do you have an iPod or anything like that?) but take heart in the fact that everywhere I've read about someone having this problem, they did /eventually/ get it to work.

with the Monotribe I purchased the previous owner claimed to have installed the update but I can't seem to access any of the added functions of the update (from the v2 overlay I'm guessing to let's say access the S&H waveform for the LFO you hold down the gate/time while pressing button 5 on the sequencer? I don't know, maybe I'm doing it wrong?). my question then is there any possibility of screwing things up if the update was successfully performed and I try running the update again? seems to me it either wasn't done as stated or not successful.

Sorry can't help you there- I have just got rid of mine. I ended up buying a couple of new ones which come with v2 already loaded. They just didn't do it for me.

You can check if it's updated:

Turn the power on while holding down PLAY and GATE. Then some lights will come on: SYNTH & HH should be lit, and FLUX should be flashing. Then there will be one more light. If the fourth light is "PLAY" then it's NOT updated - if the fourth light is "RECORD" then it is. Power off when you're done.

Sample & Hold is a setting that you turn on or off - all four of those Gate Time + # options are. If the #5 LED is lit when you hold down Gate Time, then sample & hold is turned on - and the way it works is that it replaces One-Shot on the LFO switch. Fast & Slow mode will both still behave normally.

btw even if you are updated, you should download the zip from the korg website - it includes documentation to clarify all the new features much better than the overlay does (it also includes an update guide with that fancy check-your-version method i just described)

definitely NOT updated. I'll have to give it a try when I'm off the next two days.

annoying... for whatever reason when I download the update the audio file is in m4a. format, not WAV. will not play with Windows Media Player or Audacity without being converted first. had to download WinAmp just to play it. going to try using it first to see if I can get get the Monotribe updated before converting it to WAV and using the other players. I mean unless that isn't advisable. documentation has no mention of having to convert the file, just says "transfer the file MONOTRIBE_SYS_0201.wav".... honestly, what a pain this is turning out to be... :?

I just upgraded mine last night and initially had some trouble too. Ultimately turning up the volume did the trick.

yes, me too: cranking up the volume of the PC did the job fine.
