Hi Folks,
We have a KORG Triton Le in our band room and it’s giving some problems. In the COMBI mode, if I were to press F2 and select ‘Prog’ and select let’s say a keyboard instrument for track 1, it fits in fine, but if I were to select any instrument from the wood section for track 2, there is no sound!! , as in that particular instrument dosen’t sound. I noticed this for most of the woodwind instruments. In PROG mode, the same instrument that was silent in COMBI mode, sounds as per normal! I don’t understand why this is happening. Hope somebody can advise. Thanks.

glisando,
A couple of things to look for:
If you are programming from scratch, make sure that track two is turned ON (INT) and set to global channel 1 - these are not the default settings. For tracks other than #1 you have to turn the track on (you have a choice of OFF - INT - EXT1 or EXT 2). Also, a midi channel other than global 1 may not sound because the keyboard is not playing that midi channel (internal sound).
The second thing to be aware of is that many of the GM sounds are single oscillator sounds. This is not really a factor unless you are using another combi as a template -- sometimes, to save polyphony, programmers will make only one of the two oscillators active - if #1 is off and #2 is on on that previously programmed track then a one osc sound dropped in will be silent.
Also related to the "using another combi as a template" issue is where the arpeggiator assignments are - if track #2 is assigned to the arpeggiator it won't sound unless the arp is on.
Hope this helps.
