Nanokey2 PT10 and Windows 7 = nothing

Post by lawman »

Good afternoon,

Could someone please explain how I can get my nanokey2 working with Pro Tools 10. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and the editor but there is still nothing. The nanokey2 shows up in my sounds and devices but not in the midi setup in Pro Tools. The power light comes on and M1le works standalone but not with the nanokey2. What do I do?

Thanks

Go to: http://korg.com/SupportResults.aspx?productid=596

Select your product from the dropdown menu and download the latest versions of:

The USB driver
The Product Firmware
Kontrol Editor

I've found that the regional distributor's sites may be out of date. Check the software there first and see how that works out. If this fails, post again.

Hueseph,

Thanks for the advice. I updated the drivers and the Editor but when I tired to update the NanoKey2 System Updater v 0103 it says Error: Found no Midi Port.

I already have ASIO4ALL drivers on my computer and was wondering if these might contribute to the problem.

My M Audio keyboard works perfectly with the M1LE software. I just can't get the NanoKey to work.

Thanks

I too had the same problems with my nanopad 2. The problem seems to be with Win 7 64 bit operating system. But I did the following and it worked. It also worked on my friends pc with the same problem. You have make the USB MIDI driver think you are installing it on a Vista operating system. Follow the step procedure below.

Step 1: Uninstall the drivers from Device Manager.

a. Click Start and type “devmgmt.msc” (without quotes), and then press Enter.

b. Find the device and double click to expand it

c. Right click on the device and select Uninstall.

d. Click on the start button and type "regedit.exe" (without quotes), and then press Enter. Find the the KORG registry string (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\KORG) right click and delete KORG folder.

e. Restart the computer.

Step 2: Download the latest drivers from the manufacturer website and install in compatibility mode.

a. Right click on the setup file (setup.exe for the drivers) and select Properties.

b. Now click on the Compatibility tab and check the box which says Run this program in compatibility mode for.

c. Select Windows Vista (Service Pack 2). Click Apply and OK.

d. Now right click the setup file and select Run as Administrator and follow the normal installation procedure. Check to see if you can use the program now.

Step 3: Now install the Korg Kontrol Editor

a. Once installed, go to the preferences and now you should be able to assign the Korg Nanopad 2 MIDI in and out ports.

@ lawman...
how did you go? get it sorted?

i have the same issue. spent the last 2 days scrolling forums and deleting registry entries, reinstalling, updating...etc. still do not have the korg nanopad 2 recognised in protools.

my setup:
win7 64bit sp1
intel core 2 duo CPU
8Gram.
1G graphics card.
protools 8LE with mbox.
Korg nanopad 2 .

going insane here trying to work out why so many others have it working smoothly...bar me!

I've installed the latest korg usb-midi drivers.
kontrol editor. deleted excess midi drivers in registry.
installed drivers, then deleted, then re installed. pretty much tried everything i have found online. the nanopad seems to install drivers ok, shows up in devices and in registry fine. in protools it also shows up in the midi studio and in peripherals. but PT will not use it.
getting the error pop up " HUI cannot communicate...etc"
i'm wanting to use it with ezDrummer.

i have no idea what to try next.
any help greatly appreciated.
