Oasys not booting up.

Took the Oasys out for the first time in about a year. It froze a couple of times at the start of the gig, then asked for an authentication code. Couldn't use it. The next day, after re authorising, it wouldn't boot up. Made a few long beeps, and the fans whirls, but no screen. Waiting on the verdict from the repair shop and counting my $'s!
If it's the motherboard, is it replaceable?

Hi,

No, it isn't.
I had same problem.
Thing is that you have probably two different memory's inside your O and that is why this happens.
So, you can open your O and on left side of keyboard is memory sticks, pull them out and put them back inside, then try to power on again, you should se that there will not be a problem!

Waiting on distributer to send install CD's, because the original CD's can't be used to authorise the Oasys. It's been in repairs for 5 weeks now. Good thing my diary opens a year to a page. Might as well be talking to myself here. Is there anybody out there?

LOL! Yes, folks are here - but I admit the OASYS activity in these forums has really died down a lot from what it used to be...

Sorry that your repair is taking so long :(

Hope it won't be long before you have her back. If it's not too personal, it would be good to know how much you are being charged for the repair?

Probably it has to do with the introduction of the Kronos.

However, since most engines are equal, most Oasys members will also look in the Kronos forum.

It's a shame that Korg has not made a back conversion tool from Kronos -> Oasys ... if somebody knows how to do it I can built it in my PCG Tools.

That's not too bad, although that took awhile. I had my OASYS in the shop (power plug repair) for a week and that was really missing it!

Did you get the four 1.0 Restore discs from your repairman? Every owner should have:

Four 1.0 Restore discs (Original OS)
Four 1.1 Restore discs (installs STR-1, newer OS and can upgrade directly to 1.2 or 1.3)
One 1.3 OS disc (or 1.3a, which "a" includes MOD-7 programs in FACTORY folder)
Two Brass and Woodwinds CDs. (Installs EXs3 samples)

I also keep a Reathorize disc (download sent from Korg Support).

As far as Motherboards, Korg should have a decent amount of them, which should be available to any Korg Authorized Service Center.

It was just the hard drive Mike. However, I can't authorise the Oasys without the 1.1 discs, so we're at the mercy of the distributor here on Australia.

4x 1.0.1 Restore disks

If it wasn't a 40 minute drive I'd drop it off tomorrow for you but since I have to go on on thurs I'll leave it there with them and explain it to Chris.

If for any chance they cannot repair my Kronos this week, I'll still drive it down for you Thurs/Fri

$700 later I have a new 140gb HD, and a clean Oasys, and 3 out 4 working install discs. Too bad the distributor didn't know how to burn a disc image of the files. $600 labour to email and ring them for the files (in part). My own fault for not having the right discs I guess.
