backing sequencer advice

Hi I have a PA 50 .I am trying to do the following and can't find how:
I have made a backing seqence and then saved it to the song section. I now want to record a new section onto the sequence, say from bar 54. Its a very long medley and I can't record it all at once. Is there a way to record? If not, what can i do that doestn' take forever.
